Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the formal release, "An unusual confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of banned ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The narrative presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret sect.
The questline concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Changes
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside several objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
